Flying Object

One of the events that I have been to is named “Flying object”. At first, they presented us a special museum, called Tate Sensorium. What makes this museum so special is the fact that you can see art using all your five senses. The speakers said “rather than explaining stuff to people they can feel it”. One of the reasons of the creation of the museum is the fact that people start to miss their sensory connection with the world. After that, they explained how they make this kind of art possible. In advertising, sound is very important. For example, a high piched sound of someone eating chips can suggest a better and crispier chip. Smell can bring back memories. For example, the smell of popcorn can suggest a cinema. There is a device that when someone is calling it can release a certain smell, like when your girlfriend/boyfriend is calling the smell of roses will be revealed.

After presenting this concept, we participated to a workshop. Using the smell closest to basil (anaseed, mint, clove, pepper), textures, the colors we think basil represents, we had to pretend that we own a pesto factory and sketch down the way in which we would make it go round.
